Legalization of the self-driving vehicles

Near Future: Legalization of the self-driving vehicles
While the Google's unmanned car travels around the world, some of the states in the USA see their cities' future without human drivers.
Recently, we heard that the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (NDM) has approved Google’s license application in order to test unmanned vehicles on Nevada public roads (official news release).
License in Nevada is available to any automaker. Each of the automakers shall transfer $ 1 million to the insurance fund, as well as provide a detailed test plan with route maps. The automaker can apply here.

Moreover, the autonomous vehicles equipped with license plates a special form on a red background with a symbol of infinity. The infinity symbol is symbolizing the concept of «car of the future». A Red license plate will be easily visible by other drivers and traffic police. However, after the testing robotic vehicles will issue green license plates.Near Future: Legalization of the self-driving vehicles

Several days ago we have also heard that California state legislature is also passed a law allowing the use of autonomous cars on its roads. But first of all Governor Jerry Brown need to put his signature under the law. In addition, the Department of Road Transport need to develop the detailed rules governing the operation of unmanned vehicles.

However, these states are not the last ones that passed the law, in order to enable cars to be integrated to their cities' roads, there are also Arizona, Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Florida in the next list who are going to pass the similar laws.

Taking into consideration that more than a million people worldwide are killed on the roads each year, we hope that the Google's self-driving car technology will help to reduce this statistical data in the near future. According to The Economist, about 90% of all accidents are due to human error.
The Google's unmanned vehicles have now completed more than 300,000 miles of testing with a ZERO accident under computer control.
